The Golden City

The golden city, or Jaiselmer, is one of my favorite cities in the state of Rajasthan, India. It got its name, the golden city, due to the amazing architecture, which is mostly made up of yellow sandstone, giving a yellowish golden tinge to the city.

This heritage city provides a lot of attractions to the visitors which include, the famous Jaisalmer Fort, which is the second oldest fort in Rajasthan and the impressive camel safari in the Thar desert.

The Jaisalmer Fort :

The Jaisalmer Fort also declared as a UNESCO world heritage site in 2003, is a quite historic fort, having a rich heritage. This fort is huge, usually bustling with people, having a ton of narrow alleys, temples, shops, hotels, rooftop cafes, and many more delightful attractions. Nearly one-fourth of the old city’s population still resides within the fort. Due to the sandstone, this fort turns into a beautiful color of honey gold during sunset, camouflaging with the desert, for this reason, many people also call it the Sonar Quila which translates to The Golden Fort. Apart from this, it has a lot of craftwork and art. One can see many handicraft shops and spicy street food in various corners of the fort.

The fort is usually very crowded during the day time, however, I also did a little night tour in the fort, in which I walked through the exquisite architecture, also meeting some of the local people who lived inside the fort, asking them about their lives, and then visiting a rooftop cafe, from which I witnessed an amazing view of the city, that was however quite peaceful than the daytime, but experiencing the fort in the warm sun has a very graceful charm.

The Thar Desert :

The camel safari, amidst the Thar desert, is a whole new experience… The safari includes, being amongst the camels and then riding on the back of the camels, which was quite thrilling. Then we stayed in the tents organized for us, and had an experience of camping in the desert.

Lagoon islands of Venice, Italy

Venice being a very famous town in Italy adds up being among one of the most visited cities in the world, and it sure does have a lot of attractions but so do the two amazing lagoon islands near it which, according to me are definitely worth exploring.

A gem of a place, lying in the north of Venice, Italy is renowned for its history of glass making. This charming island has several skilled craftsmen continuing their local tradition of making glass, a lot of visitors come here to explore the Museo del Vetro, which is a museum showing the history of glass through the years. This little town also has many glass factories which demonstrate the process of making the glass, and also quite a few souvenir shops where you can buy fine and attractive glass jewelry for your loved ones..

Apart from having a history of glass making, this place also has its own grand canal, shops and sidewalk cafes, and also many beautiful streets..

A very picturesque island of fishermen having lanes full of beautiful vibrant colored apartments and houses that give a very rainbow vibe, lies near Murano and can be easily reached by ferry. This island, however, is famous for its lacemaking and has a ton of shops where one can buy various lace products, it also has many fascinating bakeries and other shops. Apart from the bright houses, this island has narrow and clear canals. Since its a very small town, Burano would be best explored by simply walking in its extremely scenic and colourfull streets.

The best way to get to these islands from the main Venice island is by the Vaporetto (water bus)

Ao Nang

I recently visited this heavenly place and I loved it. From its incredibly beautiful beaches to its soothing temperature, everything was perfect here to spend a relaxing vacation

Ao Nang is a beach town in Krabi, Thailand and is known for its long-tail boat tours of the islands such as Ko Hong, Ko Poda, and Ko Gai. The beauty of this place is mesmerizing

Ao Nang is filled with many resorts and hotels, so accommodation is not a problem there. I stayed at the Centara Anda Dhevi resort, which was located at about 15 minutes from the Aonang beach and was a nice resort with a spacious room, friendly staff, and a great pool!

I believe that one can never get bored at this dreamy destination, and if you are a beach lover, it is the perfect place for you.

Ao Nang beach

You can spend your day here by taking a walk in the beachfront markets, and there are also many massage centers in this town where you can also have the famous thai foot massage like I did, and was very relaxing. In the evenings you can simply go and have a long walk at the beach, it would really help you to relieve all your stress. You can visit the Ao Nang beach, which is a very attractive beach or the Nopparat Thara beach, which is equally beautiful.

Beach front market

You can also spend your day by doing any tour or activity in the morning like the Phi Phi tour, four islands, jungle tour and there are many more options available. There are many tourist information centers so you can easily decide over there what you want to do. I did the four island tour, which was of half day and included the Pranang cave bay island, where there was a huge cave with a temple, and also the famous Railay beach, then they took us the tub island, then showed us the chicken island and then we had our lunch at the Poda island, which was included in the tour and the last was snorkeling which was really fun. If you ever do this tour do not forget to take sunscreen, a pair of sunglasses, a swimming suit, and a cap along with you. In the evening you can also visit the famous night market of Ao Nang

Phra Nang cave bay

When it comes to food, there are many Thai, Indian, as well as other restaurants in Ao Nang, however my family and I ate mostly at the king Kitchen restaurant, and I really liked their food. Do not forget to taste the delicious fruits of Ao Nang. You can easily get a bowl of mixed fruits on the streets, which are very refreshing.

Thai curry with rice

That is all about Ao Nang, and I suggest to go there in the months of September to January just to avoid the heat.

so don’t forget to add this dreamy place to your bucket list!

LAZISE, an Italian village

Lazise is a little village in the Province of Verona in the Italian region Veneto, located about 120 kilometres west of Venice and is located on the eastern shore of the beautiful Lake Garda.

I am sure not most people would have heard the name of this wonderful place and that is the reason I wanted to write about it. I was amazed by the unique beauty of this place. This charming village lies very near to the famous town Gardasee also called the Garda lake which has the world famous Gardaland amusement/water park.

I loved to explore the lively markets of this place, it had some remarkability to it, and trust me you could spend hours just roaming in the market, having an ice cream. Sounds like a perfect holiday, doesn’t it?

Exploring the streets

Well if you are interested in history you can also visit the lazise castello which is a beautiful historical castle on the shore of lake garda and has a very pleasant surrounding.

Well when it comes to hotels, there are a few camping hotels nearby. I stayed in the hotel called ‘Camping La Quercia’ along with my family. This hotel was situated on lake garda, was perfect for someone who likes camping.

I am really glad that instead of going to the famous towns in Italy, I explored something different, moreover this village was very characteristic and full of life and also conveniently near to Gardaland.

One among my favorite places in the world is Amsterdam, I love its brick buildings, open skyline, rich history, and relaxed, easy going attitude towards life.

It has historical museums, delicious cheeses, tulips, and much more. I loved how most people use bicycles at all times, that makes the city very pollution free.

I think the best part that I liked in Amsterdam was the canal tour, The canals of Amsterdam are incredibly beautiful, and there’s nothing like seeing the city from a boat, there are hop on hop off boats as well as city cruises, my family and I did the latter, and it was a very good experience.

Amsterdam is also called as Venice of the North due to its canals, but I really liked Amsterdam even better than venice. You can even walk around the city, explore the major sites and even visit the house of Anne Frank, which I had to skip due to a very long queue.

I loved its cafe culture, beautiful homes and also the friendliness of the Dutch people. You can also visit the the city tourism office near central station to get information on various events.
